Our Mission

West Gate Christian School, a ministry of West Gate Baptist Church, was founded in 1972 and now serves over 400 students from preschool (K-3) through high school (12th grade).

It is our mission to provide the highest quality spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social instruction. Our program and instruction are based on sound educational and Biblical principles, and are presented in a disciplined and safe environment.

Our Philosophy

West Gate Christian School recognizes that all knowledge comes from God.

Skilled, experienced, and caring teachers, who are committed Christians, dedicate themselves to assist their students in the learning process. Year-end testing is used as one tool in measuring how much the student has progressed.

Great care has been taken to make the facilities of West Gate Christian School a safe and secure environment for learning.

Our faculty and staff will work diligently to teach our students not only how to make a living, but how to impact contemporary society as informed and disciplined citizens.

Our Academic Program

West Gate Christian School is committed to the principle that all truth begins with God and cannot be divided into spiritual and secular. All curriculum is taught from that understanding.

Our core curriculum includes the following: English/language Arts, mathematics, reading, history/social studies, science, and more. We have chosen to use the A Beka Book curriculum for most of our classes, which provides high quality text presented from a Christian prospective. This text is complemented by foreign languages, computer skills, fine arts (band, marching, band, choral music, drama), and other electives.

Sound academics and a safe and structured environment combine to provide a friendly atmosphere for learning.

Classes are taught by a variety of methods including lecture, lab, video, and creative activities.

Students who may need remedial or accelerated classes are provided assistance.

Our teachers are all loving and committed Christians who view teaching as a calling rather than a job. West Gate's teachers are certified by the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.

Limited class size ensures each child the time and attention they deserve.

Our Extensive Sports Program

West Gate Christian School has an extensive athletic program, which includes the following: baseball, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, football, and softball.

Sports are used to provide wholesome physical activity, social interaction, and to develop Christian character by emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership.

Each athlete is taught how to compete and is prepared to respond appropriately to winning and losing.

Sports are NEVER placed above academics. Athletics are required to fulfill their academic responsibility before playing any sport. Sportsmanship, leadership, and discipline are the key ingredients added to ensure that our sporting programs are more than physical activity.

Future Expansion

West Gate Christian School and West Gate Baptist Church are always looking forward to the future. With that in mind, a recent study and master site plan was completed.

This plan is the beginning of a massive ongoing building program that started in the summer of 2005. Included in this plan will be the addition of many new buildings and the renovation of those already in existence. Additional parking, preformance halls, an athletic field, and additional classrooms are all part of West Gate's future.

Simply print and fill out the registration forms and send them via snail mail or fax. Shortly after we have received the forms, we will contact you to schedule an interview. No money is due until you have completed the interview and your child has been formally accepted as a student.

West Gate Christian School has spent over $30,000 to provide a magnetic lock system that discourages unwanted visitors. Color-coded pick-up cards are used for student pick-up. This provides an additional layer of safety for every child.
A Drug Free Environment—Alcohol and illicit drugs are strictly prohibited. A zero tolerance policy has been adopted to protect our student body and provide a moral atmosphere for learning. Students involved in such activities will be promptly dismissed from the Academy.
Quality Sports and Extracurricular Programs—A variety of sports and after school activities are available for your child's enrichment. Educational and enjoyable field trips provide for socialization and learning.
